Join us for a multi-faceted culinary evening as renowned Italian chef Gina Solazzi teaches you to prepare authentic, fresh pasta and make savory sauces. This is a special, one-time offering with limited seats. Also, uva wine bar will be on hand to expertly guide a series of wine pairings.

About the event

This dine-in cooking class is perfect for date night, an outing with friends/co-workers, or even if you're flying solo. We'll start by enjoying Chef Gina's signature handmade cheese torts and a welcome drink of prosecco. Then we'll head straight to our working commercial kitchen where you will create two delicious sauces -- one red and one cream. Chef Gina will also show you how to prepare and plate multiple versions of fresh pasta after it streams from an authentic Italian extrusion machine (this is NOT your at-home KitchenAid attachment). Her demonstration of this pasta-making marvel is alone worth the price of admission! You'll then sit down to relish the main course with another fine wine selection . . . and likely meet some new friends along the way. Finally, a delectable cannoli dessert will be brought out.

At the end of the night, you'll leave with two full servings of fresh pasta to enjoy at home. And as a special bonus, uva wine bar will conduct a raffle to give away one free bottle of wine to a lucky winner!

Please Note:

  • The fresh pasta will be made by Chef Gina immediately prior to the class. Guests will then learn how to prepare the pasta (cut, shape, cook, etc.), but will not create the dough from scratch.
  • Each wine sample will consist of 3 ounces, so you will receive a total of no more than 12 ounces of wine during the class (i.e., the equivalent of two glasses). Additional wine or any other alcoholic beverages will not be made available.

About the Chef

Chef Gina Solazzi and her husband, Gregg Braha, initially opened Pasta di Solazzi in 1982 here in Colorado Springs. After more than 20 years operating a successful market and deli, they eventually returned to the basics: making simple, authentic, fresh pasta with semolina, eggs and water. Nothing more, nothing less.

Re-envisioned for a new time, but still providing the same high-quality food products, their pasta is made as it always has been: on the same Italian machine, extruded through bronze dies for the perfect texture, one that grabs onto sauces and brings out all the flavor.

Pasta di Solazzi is an ode to the food Chef Gina and her family loves to eat. Buon appetito!

About uva wine bar

Since 2020, Liz Blakeley has owned uva wine bar in northern Colorado Springs alongside her husband of 33 years, Alec. She is WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level II certified. Liz has also traveled to vineyards across the world to experience and study wine, including Germany, Spain, California, Croatia, France, New York, Italy and Greece. As our resident expert on the samples to be enjoyed, she hopes to share her deep love of wine with you.
